Composition & Care
Caring for linen items is quite simple and straightforward. Here are a few basic rules you can follow to get the most out of your linen pieces.
If hand washing:
- Use a small bucket or sink with lukewarm water and add a teaspoon of mild detergent.
- Submerge the linen item and let it soak for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Gently agitate the item. Do not wring the fabric, as this could stretch it.
- Drain the soapy water and rinse several times until all soap residue is gone.
- Hang your item to dry.
If machine washing:
- Avoid mixing white, dark, and colored items. It is advisable to turn your linen inside out and wash it separately from other fabrics.
- Do not overload the washing machine drum.
- To save energy and preserve the lifespan of your linen, wash it only in lukewarm water (30 degrees). Excessive heat can cause more than 5% shrinkage, which could be a serious issue for items such as bed skirts or curtains. We recommend carefully following the care instructions on the labels of these two items in particular.
- Use only a mild detergent formulated for delicate fabrics.
- Do not use bleach.
- Never pour detergent directly onto dry linen, as this could stain the fabric. Always dilute the detergent before adding it to your machine.
Drying:
- Avoid electric dryers, or use them on a low or medium setting to prevent damaging the linen fabric and causing excessive shrinkage.
- If possible, hang your linen to dry—wind and sun will do a better job.
